Cheese and Marmite Sourdough Scones

Dubious of marmite but encouraged by friends. This has become one of my favorite recipes. Marmite devotees will want more marmite and skeptics will actually wonder what that extra hint of something is.

Directions

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400F

  2. Mix flour, baking powder and salt together and rub the cold butter in until it forms into something resembling breadcrumbs.

  3. Add most of the cheese (reserving some to melt on top)

  4. Mix the starter, marmite and buttermilk together and then mix together until it just comes together.

  5. Depending on how big you want them I usually make 1/4 cup sized scones but that's because I like them on the go.

  6. Brush the tops with some milk and sprinkle remaining cheese on top.

  7. Bake about 20 minutes or until golden brown
